What is an LPC Associate?

Licensed Professional Counselor Associates (LPC Associates) are licensed by the Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors to provide counseling services to clients. These LPC Associates have already earned their master’s or doctoral degrees from an approved graduate counseling program at a university or college program.

In Texas professional counselors have a rigorous experience requirements for independent licensure. The Texas Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors require LPC Associates to continue their professional development after obtaining their Master’s degree by working under a board-approved supervisor for at least 3000 hours. Texas requires this extra experience to assure mastery of counseling skills and techniques before they are eligible to apply to become Licensed Professional Counselors who can practice the craft of counseling independently.
